The overall project is embedded to activities world wide that targets the process of
identification of genes or alleles which are linked to common diseases such as asthma,
diabetes type 2, high blood pressure etc. The consortium aims at the standardization and the streamlining of the process of amplification of complex nucleic acids (genome, transcriptome) of samples of large biobanks, remained from former studies. It thereby generates quality controlled data sets for identification of susceptibility factors. Within subproject 1 Whole-Genome-Amplification or Whole-Transcriptome-Amplification tools based on Multiple Displacement Amplification technology will be developed. The project comprises the development of amplification technologies for different sample materials (containing RNA, DNA, degraded or non degraded nucleic acid) as well as the multi-parametric control of the amplified material by integrating measurements of starting material, amplification reaction and end-product of amplification reaction.
To be able to handle large numbers of samples, an automated protocol is will be developed to unlock the potential of genetic and clinic information.
